Yuan Rong Fine Tea Sets: Stars in the Sky – Ru Kiln Iron-Spotted Glaze

Ru ware is considered the pinnacle of porcelain, with its glaze being pure, lustrous, and refined, evoking a poetic atmosphere. After firing, iron elements form black iron spots that adorn the sky-blue glaze, creating a serene and charming effect, like twinkling stars. The glaze layer, through thermal expansion and contraction, develops an ever-changing "crazing" phenomenon, possessing rich and diverse aesthetic value.
In the late Northern Song Dynasty, Ru ware was monopolized as an official kiln, exclusively producing porcelain for the imperial court. Later generations further elevated Ru ware to the status of the premier celadon ware of the North and the crown jewel of the Five Great Kilns. Historical records describe its glaze as "sky blue is the most precious," pristine with a pure, lustrous sheen. The glaze is elegant in color and warm in texture. Only the finest pieces are selected after being refined at 1300 degrees Celsius. Simple yet profound, naturally formed, its understated artistry makes it a precious and enduring treasure.
